A Celebrator for the first day of summer. Seems apt. I am not the biggest fan of summer. I can do without eighty plus degree days. I could do with some air conditioning. I am becoming a fan of bock lagers though. Some interesting stuff going on. And they have goats.

Bocks — or doppelbock or what have you — is like the German answer to Belgian strong dark ales and quadrupels. Lots of fruity flavors and a hint of roast. Celebrator was heavy on the figs and raisins. There wasn’t much roast to speak of, but there was a hint of hops. Just a twinge of bitter that made the finish just dry enough. The body is light and sips easy as pie, and it tastes a bit like pie. I could definitely see drinking this out of a stein in the fall, spring, whatever.
