I found this vintage bottle of Alaskan Barley Wine at Bottleworks in Seattle. I thought I was going to save it for a while, but I just had to have it. I’ve been on a big barley wine kick lately, and I am terrible at letting good beer wait.
A perfect sweet brown sugar and caramel scent like home made brittle came out first. Then we came to the roasted nuts and sweetness. Followed by a perfectly balanced bitterness. Also there is a bit of vanilla. Oh and a pecan pie. Did I mention the alcohol heat? And a super black licorice aftertaste? This is all I am going to drink, forever.
