Saison Slinging

Somehow, a bottle of Stillwater Artisanal’s Stateside escaped Saison night unopened. Maybe, we were all a little worn out; maybe, I bought more beer than necessary. It didn’t make much of an impression on Saturday, but today it tastes great.

Stateside is a spicy, fruity mix that just works. It’s tangy with orange juice and graefruit backed up with a peppery bitterness and dry yet lingering finish.¬†Stateside has that earthy, rustic taste that a good Saison requires, and I hear rumors that the gypsies at Stillwater and Evil Twin are working together on some bigger digs, so expect more and cheaper beers available soon.
